Un doute est émis dans le registre d'inventaire sur le lieu de création ; Crosses limousines émaillées Les premières au début du XIIIe siècle, avec une grande fleur à 3 pétales stylisées dans la volute paraissent inspirées par le texte biblique relatif à la verge fleurie d'Aaron. Les suivantes où la volute prend la forme d'un serpent dérivent d'un autre miracle, relat l'exode où Moïse dit à Aaron: 'prends ton bâton et jette-le devant Pharaon, il deviendra un serpent'. cette crosse ci serait une des premières à présenter le motif de St Michel terrassant le dragon qu'il tient par la main. (46 exemples connus) ' (...) La volute est en deux éléments soudés longitudinalement. Le décor est constitué d'émaux de couleur bleu roi et de cabochons turquoises sur le dragon, rougeâtres pour les yeux. Le noeud est en deux éléments ajourés travaillés au repoussé reposant sur un fond uni rapporté. La douille est faite d'une feuille enroulée, longitudinale avec au sommet un embout dans lequel pénètre la tige. Les soudures sont faites à l'argent avant émaillage et dorure. Cette dernière doit être faite au mercure en raison même des températures exigées par les différentes opérations. (description d'E. Salin, 1958. musée du fer à Jarville-Nancy)
