Description
Figure d'ancêtre destinée à être placée sur le reliquaire contenant les restes emblématoires des défunts dans la forêt gabonaise. La figure stylisée est une pièce de bois sculptée sur laquelle sont fixées, par martelage des plaques de tôle, des lamelles de laiton et de cuivre. Le corps est stylisé par un losange plus ou moins régulier. Entre les deux, on a un long cou qui est recouvert, ainsi que le haut du losange, par de la tôle de laiton fixée par des agrafes en laiton. Le visage est allongé avec des cabochons pour les yeux, un nez triangulaire est en relief ; 2 tôles en cuivre fixées par des pointes se croisent au centre. Les parties jouxtant le visage sont recouvertes d'une tôle de laiton épousant les reliefs du bois. En arrière se trouve une coiffe à 3 éléments, au dessus de la tête un triangle arrondi avec un tube au sommet. De part et d'autre de la tête, deux quarts de cercle avec un tube en bas au centre.
