Description
Figure d'ancêtre destinée à être placée sur le reliquaire contenant les restes emblématoires des défunts dans la forêt gabonaise. Bois découpé et sculpté avec une tôle de laiton fixée par martelage, renforcée par des agrafes en laiton. Le visage est ovalaire, la partie supérieure qui surplombe est gainée de tôle de laiton agrafée. Le front est souligné d'une crête médiane sculptée. Les yeux-cabochons sont fixés sous le surplomb par une agrafe. Le nez est dans le prolongement de l'arête médiane ; en tôle lisse, il se prolonge jusqu'au menton. La bouche est représentée ouverte avec des dents. La coiffe, à l'arrière de la tête, est une plaque arrondie avec découpe au sommet et une base à élément relevé. Les pourtours sont sculptés. Ces deux ensembles de tôle sont agrafés. Le cou sculpté est recouvert d'une tôle de laiton. De face, la partie supérieure du losange sculptée de lignes obliques est recouverte d'une tôle agrafée
