Description
Au droit : Le portrait reflète l'idéal républicain romain : réalisme des traits, rides sur le front et péri-orbitaires (« patte d'oie »), cheveux coupés courts et ramenés vers l'avant. Vertu, sagesse et droiture du père sont ici affichées. Au revers : Sont représentés les symboles du rang élevé de l'ancêtre du monétaire qui fit frapper cette monnaie. En tant que haut magistrat, il bénéficiait de la chaise curule (sella curulis), enrichie d'ivoire, et d'une escorte (les licteurs), symbolisée par les faisceaux (baguettes liées entre elles autour d'une hache).
