Manufacture nationale d'armes de Châtellerault (1819-1968) — 3rd quarter 19th Century

Description

Sabre-baïonnette pour fusil Chassepot composé d'une poignée en laiton cannelé avec un poussoir cylindrique sur le côté gauche et un ressort de rappel en forme de "L" sur le côté droit ; sur le haut de la poignée, une rainure permet d'accueillir le tenon de baïonnette. La croisière d'acier est faite d'un quillon rentrant et d'une vis à douille à l'autre extrémité ; la lame dite "Yatagan" est à double courbure ; le dos est plat ; les côtés sont évidés de longs pans creux qui se terminent au carré du côté du talon et en arrondi vers la pointe ; cette dernière est munie d'un contre-tranchant. La lettre A devant le numéro de matricule, sur la croisière, indique que l'arme a été fabriquée par la manufacture de Châtellerault.
