Description

Plaque de ceinturon en bronze moulé et martelé, à décor de griffon : 'cette plaque rectangulaire est percée de deux trous sur son bord droit; le décor de griffon, présenté de profil gauche en faible relief, est obtenu par moulage; il lève sa patte avant droit, sa longue queue est dressée en panache et les détails de la tête sont peu visibles. La plaque était sans doute articulée avec une boucle sur le côté gauche. Type inhabituel en Gaule; le griffon présenté de profil gauche avec une patte levée est un motif très répandu en Asie et courant en Europe Orientale sous les Avares aux VII-IXe siècles.'
