Description
Calcaire taillé ; Taillé sur tous ses côtés, cet élément montre sur sa face principale un arc en accolade mouluré (deux gorges encadrant un tore), sous la pointe duquel se niche une petite tête humaine, traitée de manière extrêmement fruste. Celle-ci offre un volume ovoïde compact, rigide, sans aucune subtilité dans le modelé, effet que renforcent l'absence d'oreilles et le rendu superficiel des cheveux par de fines traces d'outils. Un long nez barre le visage aplati ; les yeux, surmontés de grandes arcades sourcilières, et la bouche qui s'étire au bas du visage sont traités en saillie, comme s'ils étaient simplement apposés sur la surface. Les traces de mortier visibles sur le lit de dessous prouvent que la sculpture formait l'élément supérieur 'une niche : elle provient sans nulle doute d'un atelier très secondaire qui connaissait le vocabulaire ornemental mais ne savait pas traiter la figure humaine. Seul l'arc en accolade pourrait permettre de situer l'exécution de ce bloc au XVe siècle, mais cette chronologie reste vague.
