Bois, laque or et rouge sur fond noir, incrustation de nacre. ; Plaques à décor de laque asiatique Chine, dynastie Qing, époque Qianlong (1736-1795), avant 1792 Au nombre d’une centaine, les petites plaques de laque de la collection Jehannin de Chamblanc pourraient provenir de l’ancien fonds d’un marchand mercier (à la suite peut-être d’une faillite) et être ainsi destinées à la production de pièces luxueuses en France. Dans la bibliothèque de l’amateur dijonnais, nombreux étaient les manuels techniques illustrant la quête des européens pour saisir les propriétés de la laque asiatique. Issues de coffrets ou de boîtes, les plaques de Chine et du Japon ont été pour la plupart soigneusement découpées à mi-épaisseur pour être remployées. Dans cet ensemble, elles côtoient des exemples de plaques décoratives en vernis européen. (Catherine Tran)
