Description
Bronze ; Au centre, trou cylindrique pour un manche. Les doubles haches miniatures sont fréquentes aussi bien au IIe millénaire, en Crète et à Mycènes, qu'à l'Age du Fer, de l'Europe Centrale à la Grèce géométrique. Dans un cas comme dans l'autre, la partie centrale est en principe moins fine qu'ici, et les 'tranchants' moins courbes, mais on trouve des formes proches de celles-ci aussi bien dans les doubles haches que portent certains vases minoens que dans les boucliers échancrés des soldats des vases géométriques. Ce qui fait penser ici au IIe millénaire est la présence d'un trou, fait pour passer une tige mince, figurant le manche de la hache réelle : cet usage y est plus répandu qu'à l'Age du Fer, et davantage en Crète qu'à Mycènes - sinon sur des objets importés - à en juger par les doubles haches d'or, plus fréquemment publiées que celle de bronze. Les figurations des vases vont dans le même sens.
