Description
Lithographie avec rehauts de pastel, aquarelle et crayon sur papier. Épreuve d'artiste. La composition de ces deux bustes féminins, l'un de face, l'autre de profil, est l'illustration de l'affiche du XVe Salon des artistes décorateurs. Avec les oiseaux, l'un des motifs préférés de l'œuvre de Jean Dupas est celui de la colonne, sensible ici dans la forme très particulière des cous et des bras, plus trivialement qualifiée "d'élongation en tuyau de poêle", par les détracteurs de Dupas. A l'extrémité de ces bras-colonnes, les mains curieusement renversées, paumes vers le haut, présentant une rose et un fruit, en sont comme les chapiteaux composites. La coiffure de la femme brune - arrangement d'une perruque poudrée de la fin du XVIIIe siècle- revient aussi fréquemment dans les représentations de Dupas, celle de la femme blonde, en revanche, courte et enlevée par le vent, rappelle celle de Loulou, la belle sportive du petit portrait-charge "Euss".
