Protat Frères : La famille Protat, propriétaire de l'entreprise, est une ancienne famille originaire de Vergisson qui rachète le Journal de Saône-et-Loire et son imprimerie en 1849. La transformation en imprimerie de labeur, suite au déclin du titre vers 1880, va propulser l'entreprise vers un destin international par la spécialisation vers les clientèles érudites et savantes.(voir Répertoire numérique de la sous-série 37 J, aux Archives départementales de Saône-et-Loire "L'imprimerie Protat à Mâcon (1833-1985) ".
