Loison Pierre 1816 1886

Né en 1816 à Mer, died 1886 à Cannes. Placé en apprentissage chez un sabotier, son talent est décelé par le pasteur de la ville, Armand de Kerpzedron qui le voit sculpter une corbeille de fleurs sur un sabot. Grâce à des soutiens financiers mérois, il s’installe à Paris pour suivre son éducation à l’école de dessin et de sculpture puis à l’atelier du célèbre sculpteur David D’Angers et à l’école des Beaux-Arts. Reconnaissant de l’aide accordée par la ville de Mer à cette période, il offrira la sculpture des frontons de la Halle aux grains et plusieurs sculptures en marbre à l’hospice de Mer. Sculpteur reconnu durant toute sa carrière, il gagna de nombreux prix et fut décoré de la Légion d’honneur en 1859. Il reçut de nombreuses commandes de personnalités importantes de l’époque mais également pour l’Etat et pour la Maison de l’Empereur : ses œuvres peuvent ainsi être admirées sur le Palais du Louvre, au Palais de Compiègne ou au Palais de Justice de Blois.
