Hellstern
La Maison Hellstern, dont la vocation première était la chaussure d'homme, a été fondée vers 1870 à Paris, rue du 29 juillet, puis transférée place Vendôme vers 1900.Les trois fils (Maurice, Charles et Henri) Hellstern coopèrent activement pour le développement de la Maison qui comptera à son apogée (1920-1925) plus de cent ouvriers, effectif important pour l'époque. De nombreux façonniers assurent à domicile des productions de haut de gamme : dans la Loire, où l'Ecole de cavalerie a suscité l'existence d'une main-d'uvre qualifiée en botterie, dans le Midi, où sont établis des ouvriers italiens de grand talent.Le rayonnement de la Maison est très important pour l'époque : une succursale à Bruxelles se maintient jusqu'en 1949, une autre à Londres fermera ses portes en 1965 ; enfin, à Cannes, une boutique de diffusion orientée vers le prêt-à-porter durera jusqu'en 1970.Mais la renommée d'Hellstern est essentiellement parisienne. La Maison participe aux défilés de haute couture, ce qui lui attire une clientèle française et étrangère consommatrice de produits de luxe. Elle chausse les pieds célèbres de son temps : princes et princesses des cours européennes, grandes vedettes du spectacle, etc..
