GAGNERAUX PUINE : Dijon, 1765 ; Dijon, 1846 ; nationalité : Française ; Frère cadet de Bénigne Gagneraux, cet artiste est resté dans l'ombre mais quelques-unes de ses oeuvres méritent attention. Formé à l'Ecole de Dessin de Dijon, il obtient le deuxième prix de peinture en 1784, derrière Anatole Devosge et le premier prix l'année suivante. En 1788, il rejoint son frère à Rome et collabore à certaines de ses oeuvres. Pendant la Révolution, de nouveau Dijonnais, il est portraitiste et dessinateur d'allégories révolutionnaires. De 1810 à 1817, il se fixe à Lyon comme peintre d'histoire, et continue à réaliser des portraits et des miniatures.
