Arles 14 août 1934 ; 15 novembre 2014. Lucien Clergue est né à Arles, en 1934. Après des études secondaires et musicales, il entre à l’usine à 17 ans et n’en sortira que dix ans plus tard, pour se consacrer uniquement à sa passion, la photographie, qu’il pratique depuis l’âge de 14 ans. Quinze ouvrages publiés, tant en France qu’à l’étranger, plus de cent expositions personnelles dont certaines dans les plus grands musées du monde. Quinze courts métrages, deux moyens métrages, plusieurs décorations murales et des décors de ballets. Des photographies originales de Lucien Clergue, tirées à vingt exemplaires, numérotées et signées, figurent dans de nombreuses collections privées et publiques ; Lucien Clergue est le fondateur des « Rencontres internationales de la photographie », qui se déroulent chaque année en Arles au cours du mois de juillet.
