Albert Bréauté : Paris, 1853 ; Paris, 1939 ; fut élève d'Henri Lehmann, de Cormon et de Luc Olivier Merson. Il participa au salon de Paris de 1880 à 1934, obtenant une médaille d'argent en 1900. Il montre une variété dans le choix de ses sujets et aussi dans son style. Il passe de portraits classiques à des scènes légères, gracieuses, à des sujets intimistes parfois mélodramatiques d'une psychologie pénétrante. Ses scènes de genre intimiste lui valent en 1897 les compliments de son confrère Albert Maignan commentant dans "la gazette des Beaux-Arts" le salon : "Délicates notations d'une lumière tamisée ou les objets se noient, s'enveloppent dans le mystère d'un intérieur clos (...). Notes assagies des étoffes, des mousselines, des bibelots de l'intérieur, soutenues par le bleu sourd d'une lampe de Sèvres : un ensemble plein d'intimité".
