Musée Ingres Bourdelle
Le musée Ingres Bourdelle, musée labellisé à Montauban, est ouvert au public en Occitanie. L'histoire du musée se résume ainsi : Un premier musée voit le jour dès 1828, complété en 1843 par 68 tableaux légués par le baron Vialètes de Mortarieu, ancien maire.
Cette collection est alors exposée dans une salle de I'ancien palais épiscopal, devenu I'hôtel-de-ville après la Révolution, puis musée Ingres. Car, en 1851, par un don, puis en 1867, par un legs, Ingres enrichit considérablement le musée de sa ville natale.
II offre ses collections d'antiquités et de peintures anciennes, plus de 4.000 dessins autographes, une vingtaine de tableaux et de nombreux objets personnels, dont le fameux violon. Le musée Ingres est né. Il prend corps à la fin du XIXe siècle et occupe la totalité du palais à partir de 1909.
Depuis lors, le musée a continué à accroître son fonds et a notamment reçu plusieurs œuvres du sculpteur montalbanais Bourdelle. Ce qui fait l'intérêt de cet établissement : Ancien Palais épiscopal. Ses atouts principaux : Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. Emile-Antoine Bourdelle.
