Le musée s'ouvre aussi au « pays lagunaire » environnant, depuis la rive nord de l'étang de Mauguio, jusqu'à l'île de Maguelone, ainsi qu'à la moyenne vallée du Lez, depuis le néolithique, avec le développement du Chasséen (au milieu du Ve-milieu du IVe millénaires), jusqu'à l'Antiquité tardive (VIe-VIIe siècles).
