Le dessin est orné d'un cadre fait de filets et lavis encré et aquarellé. Vue de l'Etna et de Taormina. Baie ouverte sur la mer vers la gauche; l'Etna au second plan à droite voilé de nuages. Au premier plan à droite, des personnages passent prés de ruines sur un chemin escarpé au pied d'une montagne : un homme de dos avec un chien, une femme sur un âne, une autre portant un balot sur la tête... Au premier plan à gauche, quelques personnages de dos regardent vers la mer. Dessin souligné d'un cadre dessiné, alternance de bandes noires et vertes.
