Description
Gouache sur papier. ; Louis Touchagues s’était retrouvé à Paris en compagnie de Gabriel Chevallier, Marcel Achard, Gaston Baty, Pierre Scize et Henri Béraud. Ce dernier l’avait entrainé dans les milieux artistiques de la capitale. Il réalise alors une série d’illustrations pour de célèbres revues comme "Le Rire" ou "Le Crapouillot" pour lesquelles il fait les portraits de Picasso, Léger et Vlaminck, ainsi que des hommes politiques. La tendance à l’économie de la ligne nécessaire à la caricature le conduit vers une simplification des formes également marquée par l'avant-garde russe de Pavel Filonov ou de Kasimir Malévitch. Chez Touchagues, cette période de création est restreinte à quelques années (1923-1927). Cette oeuvre en est un des rares témoignages.
