Description
Flûtiste vêtu à l'orientale LE SUEUR Pierre Huile sur toile 1747 Inv. 2018.3.1 Pierre LE SUEUR (1724-1786), petit neveu du peintre Eustache LE SUEUR, a représenté ici un personnage vêtu à l'orientale dont on ignore l'identité ; il pourrait être un ambassadeur ou un personnage influent ayant joué un rôle avec le Levant. Il tient entre les mains une flûte traversière traverso à trois corps et une clef d’un modèle Hotteterre en faveur entre 1680 et 1715 et dont le musée conserve une copie du XIXe siècle (flûte traversière inv. 11). La flûte est signée en quatre endroits du nom de "Peltier" : il s'agit de celui de Charles Pelletier, issu d'une famille de facteurs du bassin couturiot. Le portrait témoigne de la fortune des instruments Eurois au XVIIIe siècle.
