Description

Coupe à champagne en verre translucide et incolore. Coupe ornée de six cercles et large pied évasé à décor de pastillages en verre translucide et incolore sur le noeud et torsades sur le pied. Deux pièces fortement apparentées à la nôtre, datées de 1871, sont désignées sous le terme de coupe à champagne dans l'ouvrage du musée de l'Ecole de Nancy (Nancy, musée de l'Ecole de Nancy, n° JB 81.28 et n° JB 81.21). La coupe à profil arrondi ressemble davantage à celle du premier objet, mais six cercles, régulièrement disposés, remplacent la surface côtelée. En revanche, la jambe creuse évasée surmontée d'un large noeud se rapproche de la pièce n° JB 81.21. Le décor de notre pièce est entièrement composé sur le mode de l'opposition. Les fines côtes enroulées autour du pied contrastent avec la surface lisse de la coupe, tandis que les quatre pastilles, appliquées sur le noeud, cerné de deux disques, répondent aux cercles en négatif disposés sur la coupe. Un décor de pastillages habille déjà la grande coupe 'Fragile Pignus', antérieure d'une année aux pièces comparatives. (Petit, 2005)
