Description
Gobelet évasé moulé en verre translucide et incolore à décor émaillé polychrome de fleurs stylisées et de fines côtes rondes pour la partie inférieure. Ce verre répond parfaitement à la définition du gobelet. Sur plan circulaire, légèrement évasé, il repose sur une base plate. Le décor émaillé, et plus particulièrement l'inscription, précise l'occasion pour laquelle il a été offert. Les mots ' don ', ' amour ' et ' coeurs ' des quelques vers de l'inscription en émail blanc appartiennent de façon évidente au vocabulaire du mariage et de la fidélité. Contrairement à l'inscription qui se déploie sur les rainures à la base du gobelet, le décor émaillé polychrome de fleurs stylisées couvre uniquement la surface lisse sous la frise d'émail blanc près du col. L'écriture gothique et la langue confirment l'origine allemande de cette pièce. Un décor d'inspiration semblable orne en effet un pichet de provenance germanique daté du XVIIe siècle ou du XVIIIe siècle (Munich, Bayerische Nationalmuseum, n° 192). Le traitement des fleurs, rondes ou allongées, au sommet de fines tiges, dont les feuilles sont rendues par des traits courts, ainsi que le choix des couleurs sont identiques. (Petit, 2005)
