Ces deux disques de bronze renflés comportent un trou en leur centre pour la fixation au manche du crotale. Deux doubles traits concentriques sont gravés sur la face interne de chaque élément.#Le crotale est un instrument à percussion, variante des cymbales, introduit en Égypte à l'époque romaine où il fut très répandu jusqu'à l'époque chrétienne. Les cymbalettes étaient insérées entre les deux branches d'une pince de métal garnie de clochettes. L'origine égyptienne de cette paire de cymbalettes est possible mais non assurée.
